The aerodynamic behavior of ice crystals growing under cloud conditions was theoretically analyzed, and on the basis of this analysis, a time-dependent expression that reasonably fit several experimental data of crystal fall velocity was obtained. To make the expression applicable to outside of the original ranges of the experimental data, further empirical relationships between the Reynolds number and the Best number as well as the correction factor for shape variation were developed.
