As indicated above, there are many diverse applications for forensic entomology. Even the absence of insects on a body can be of value, for example confirming that a concealed body had not been exposed to fly activity before concealment (Erzinçlioglu, 1996). However, the main applications relate to insect infestation or colonisation of living or dead humans and animals.
