show the most promise. To assist in this process, several reviewers read each abstract independently and assign quality scores. Because the selection process is subjective and based on limited data, some good submissions are undoubtedly rejected. Rejection leads to disappointment and frustration. Each year the program chairs receive letters inquiring why an abstract was judged unfavorably. To assist MDM readers who are considering submitting abstracts for possible presentation at future meetings, we reviewed previously submitted abstracts to identify the characteristics associated with acceptance for presentation. Based on this review and our experience on the program committee, we offer our opinions on how to write
