The distortion of optical surface includes rigid-body motion and aberration, which have different effects on the optical system. Although the rigid-body motion can be computed by some numerical approaches, there’s still no professional software which can simulate the distortion of the mirror surface. A new visual method based on the FEA results is studied. Using the relationship between the Zernike polynomials and the classical Seidel aberrations, the FEA results are transferred to the more reasonable simulated forms, including numerical values, aberration nephogram and simulated interference pattern. The code has been developed by using VC++ and OpenGL. It is indicated that the method can divide the distortion efficaciously in an intuitionistic way, and takes an important role in the optomechanical system design.
