Biochenlical and x-ray diffraction results concerning the oligonleric structure of the histones are presented. Thc results show pairwise associations in solution, two types of histone fornling a tetranler and two other types of histone forming a different oligomer. The saIne pairwise associations appear to occur in chronlatin.
