The plasma cholinesterase (PChE) and red blood cell cholinesterase (AChE) activities were measured in crop protection workers in Senegal who had been exposed in 1987 to fenitrothion alone or in combination with fenvalerate in the field. No significant change in cholinesterase activities was observed in workers exposed to fenitrothion alone, but in workers exposed to fenitrothion with fenvalerate PChE activity was reduced by 38-75% and AChE by 6-23%, indicating a synergistic action for the 2 insecticides against man.
