Product liability is a relatively recent development in the law. Products can be dangerous — and thus lead to liability by the manufacturer or seller — for a variety of reasons. Sometimes they are poorly designed; or they might be defectively manufactured. Increasingly, however, manufacturers and sellers of products are held liable because they failed to warn consumers of potential risks or dangers associated with their use.
