Phospholipins prepared from rat liver, ox liver and yeast were chromatographed on silicic acid columns. The eluting solvents, mixtures of chloroform and methanol in the proportions 4 to 1, 3 to 2 and 1 to 4 by volume, were used successively to elute 5 different fractions comprising a mixture of phosphatidyl ethanolamines and phosphatidyl serines, phosphoinositides, lecithins, sphingolipids, and an unidentified phospholipin of low N content.
