A pin and disc wear apparatus developed for application to dental restorative materials is described. Fully automatic wear generation and data acquisition were conducted on three specimens simultaneously. At arbitrarily selected intervals during wear generation, a series of track depth measurements on the specimen discs was made around the wear track using linear variable-differential transformers. A discussion of probable error sources and estimates of experimental uncertainties are included.
