Goeldi’s monkey, Callimico goeldii is in termediate between the two main families of New World monkeys-Callitrichidae and Cebidae-and is sometimes placed in its own family Callimiconidae [1]. Callimico re sembles the genus Saguinus in external mor phology and appears to have a similar breed ing system to that of the callitrichids. How ever, like the cebids, Callimico produces a single infant at each birth and the mother alone cares for the infant during the first 2-4 weeks [1].
