Summary Five new species representing four distinctive new genera, viz. Afrotettix, Atopotettix, Dirshidium and Namatettix, are described from the western parts of the Cape Province, South Africa. An attempt is made to place the new taxa, as far as is possible, in the present system of classification. Brief ecological notes are furnished for each species.
