Research on the electrical properties of pyrite and arsenopyrite (Golosov, 1939; Smith, 1947; Fischer and Hiller, 1956; Gorbatov, 1957, 1960; Voytkevich et al., 1966; Knyazev, 1965, 1966; Rozova, 1969; Suzuki, 1970) has shown that varieties exhibiting different types of conductivity may be distinguished within the limits of these minerals, namely p-, pn, and n-pyrites and arsenopyrites. Certain authors (Knyazev, Berman et al.; Krasnikov et al.; Rozova) discuss the typomorphism of these varieties, characterizing specific mineralgenetic types of deposits and stages of miner al formation. The appearance of semiconductive proper ties in compounds and elements is determined by the type of atomic bond in the structure of the solid. The electron-hole centers, respon sible for the variability of the semiconductive properties and in particular the thermoelectric properties of minerals, are localized in isomorphous impurities (Marfunin and Bershov, 1969) or in vacancies in the principal compo nents (Kroger, 1969). It is clear that the change in the electrical properties is directly related to the variability of the chemical com position and the dimensions of the unit cell of the mineral.
