In Appendix A: List of Notations, the title is self-explanatory. This is a useful addition. Appendix B is devoted to matrix algebra topics that are not so likely to be found in standard texts but are used extensively in this book. The Appendix is in six subsections: Kronecker Products, Matrix Differentiation, Projection, Generalized Inverse, Decomposition of Matrices, and Eigenvalue Perturbation Theory. For additional details, see Kollo and von Rosen (2006) or Healy (2000). Appendix C has five short sections: Multivariate Normal Distribution, Quadratic forms, OP and op , Convolution, Exponential Family and Generalized Linear Models. One addition would be very helpful, namely, some mention of the packages in R that are relevant. In particular, see the new version of lme implemented in R (lme4) and the documentation by Bates. The book by Faraway is also useful in this respect. Finally, in connection with the use of Monte Carlo methods, see the links pertaining to BUGS and OPENBUGS.
