Experiments on the colchicine-induction of peach polyploids in the orchard and greenhouse are described. The results obtained by the colchicine treatment were found to be similar to those observed in the case of the cranberry. Sectorial and periclinal diploid-polyploid chimaeras were usually produced, which were recognizable by the size of the stomata and other characteristics of the leaf. The author suggests a technique likely to be most successful in the production of polyploid forms of peach in the greenhouse. This consists of treating the shoots of one-year-old trees with a 1% colchicine solution in water to which two drops of 10% Santomerse have been added to each 10 cc. of the solution.
