地质分析在野外规模序列法的应用中起着重要的作用。考核单元应该分为不同的类型，每种类型都有自己的解决方案。在一个评价单元中讨论了单个、两个或多个射野大小序列的情况。单一大小序列评价单元也可分为两种情况。一种是勘探程度较低的评价单元，不确定是否找到最大的油田;另一种是勘探程度较高的评价单元，肯定找到最大的油田。针对每种情况，给出了不同的评价方法。该方法可以提高地质分析的准确性和评价结果的准确性。
Geological analysis played an important role in application of field size sequence method. The assessment units should be divided into different types, each type had its own solution. The case of single, two or more field size sequences were discussed in one assessment unit. The single size sequence assessment unit also could be divide into two situations. One is the assessment unit with low-degree exploration area, not sure if the largest field is found. Another is the assessment unit with high-degree exploration area, the largest fields are surely found. For each case, different assessment methods are given. It could enhance the geological analyze and the accuracy of the assessment result.
