This article describes the microstructural examination of Magnesium and Magnesium alloys. A variation in the normal method of preparing and etching sections of Magnesium alloys is described and compared. The aim of the investigations was to optimise the preparation and etching of specimens of Magnesium wrought alloys, in particular those of AZ31.
