MATERIALS AND METHODSAnimals. Several breeding pairs of twitcher mice (C57BL/6J-twi) were obtained from the Jackson Laboratory, and a colony was maintained in our institution by brother-sister matings. Within a week after birth, genetic status of individual mice was determined by assaying tips of clipped tails for activity of galactosylceramidase. l4 Mice were sacrificed at various ages. Methods.
