Part I essentially contains one chapter that is devoted to Introduction to Materials Science. Part II of this bound volume has four independent chapters. Atomic and Molecular Origins of Color form the basis of discussion in Chapter 2. In Chapter 3 is presented and discussed aspects related and relevant to Color in Metals and Semiconductors. Several aspects of interest coupled with the need to know Color arising from Interactions of light waves with Bulk Matter form the basis of a neat and compelling presentation of Chapter 4. Several other optical effects pertinent to materials form the basis of Chapter 5. Part III of this bound volume is devoted entirely to Thermal properties and consists of six well-written and compiled chapters. HeatCapacity, Heat Content, and Energy Storage form the basis of Chapter 6. The salient aspects relevant to materials in the specific domain of thermal expansion and thermal conductivity are well presented and cohesively discussed in Chapters 7 and 8. The Thermodynamic aspects related to ‘‘stability’’form the basis of Chapter 9. Introducing the interested reader to aspects related to Surfaces and Interfaces is neatly presented with limited discussion in Chapter 10. The last Chapter (Chapter 11) in this Part is devoted to discussing other states of Matter. Part IV of this bound volume focusses on Electrical and Magnetic Properties of Materials. This part has essentially two chapters; the first Chapter (Chapter12) is devoted to presenting the reader to the Fundamentals of Electrical Properties while the follow on chapter (Chapter 13) presents and discusses the Magnetic Properties of Materials. Part V The Mechanical Properties of Materials is covered exclusively in one chapter that fits well in this part of the bound volume.
