Two new tropane alkaloids schizanthine Y [1] and schizanthine Z [2] have been isolated from the methanol extract of the leaves of Schizantus porrigens, in addition to the known compounds (-)-6s-angeloyloxytropan-3a-ol [3] and (-)-3a-senecioyloxytropan-6s-ol [4]. Structures for the new compounds are proposed on the basis of spectroscopic evidence.
