Colour Atlases are the kind of books everyone would like, but few seem to merit the expense demanded by lavish colour printing. This atlas doe.~ not fall into that category its format, layout, and the wealth of material contained, well merit its modest price. This is no accumulation of whatever nice pictures came readily to hand, but a carefully compiled narrative amplifying neat diagrams of parasite occurrence in different parts of the horse anatomy. Photographic creclits are impressive, and many were specially commissioned for the book. Nor should parasitologists mistake its focus on equine parasites this book would serve as firstclass teaching material for any course on medical or veterinary parasitology. Horses have been closely associated with man for centuries; they have transported us, helped plough our fields, and often controlled our military history. And in spite of the internal combu'~tion engine, they retain fundamental roles in many Tumour-like lesions caused by Draschia Draschia is very closely related to Habronema but differs in that it buries itself deeply in the stomach wall. It causes submucosal eosinophil granulomas that coalesce and later develop into large fibrous masses that can reach the size of a golf-ball. Bot-fly larvae are a/so present in this illustration but they do not contribute to this pathological process.
