Preliminary results of authors' study of the microplankton in Cretaceous (Barremian-Maestrichtian) sequence of Senegal Basin, N.W. Africa, are given. In the present article only some non-tabulate fossil dinoflagellates are considered. They are assigned to five genera (two new), twelve species (all new) and eight combinations (all new). The status of all the Lower Cretaceous species of the genus Deflandrea is discussed and it is suggested that they be segregated as a separate genus. The stratigraphic importance of these fossils has also been brought to light with the remark that Deflandrea can be treated as an Upper Cretaceous Tertiary genus.
