From known results, at the level of perturbation theory, the quantum sine-Gordon (SG) field theory is shown to be isomorphic to the zero-field, low-temperature limit of the classical two-dimensional x-y model. The solitons of the SG theory are suggested to correspond to the vortices in the x-y model. (AIP)
