Abstract: Here, a set of simplified equations, which emphasize the high mass-flux (or high interfacial vapor velocity) at the interface of an evaporating sphere has been solved analytically. The analysis is restricted to the stationary and no-gravity case. The correction factor obtained may, however, be applicable to non-zero Reynolds number situations in the same way as in other previous studies. The author has demonstrated in a simple manner that the mass transfer coefficient is expected to reduce to a large extent when the interfacial mass flux becomes very large.
