It has been clarified that the stresses in the carbon fiber on the closer side to the steel plate tend to be higher when two steel plates are bonded together with multiple carbon fibers. This tendency might occur in corroded high-strength bolt friction joints retrofitted by the patch plates. In this study, finite element analysis and tensile tests were conducted on a joint with the splice and patch plates, focusing on the axial force on the splice and patch plates. The results of the finite element analysis revealed that the axial force sharing on the splice plate was about 10% higher than that calculated from the ratio of the cross-sectional area of the splice and patch plates. Tensile test results also showed the same tendency as FE results.
