In an electrocardiographic survey of 500 healthy adults, 300 Negro and 200 white subjects, diphasic or inverted T waves in the precordial leads were observed in 14 Negroes, eight among 100 women and six among 200 men. Among white subjects a diphasic T wave was noted in only one instance.2.2. It is suggested that the presence of diphasic or inverted T waves in the precordial leads under the circumstances constituted a persistence of the juvenile pattern and was not a manifestation of organic heart disease.
