The identifiability of systems in a state space representation is considered. The analysis is based on the assumption that the system equation can be formulated as an initial value problem. The application of the results is exemplified for nonlinear systems describing 2 frequently appearing types of saturation encountered in pharmacokinetics: Langmuir and Michaelis-Menten saturation. In the special case of linear systems a new way to determine the identifiability is obtained.
