The article discusses Tunisian women's rights under president Habib Bourguiba, how the pro-woman decrees were formulated to weaken the Islamic movement, and the need for women's organization to have strong footholds in Islamic law. It mentions the Code of Personal Status (CPS) law that favored women rights and explains how women's movements stated to alter after introduction of Islamic law in 1979 which started restricting these rights. It also mentions the Jasmine Revolution in this context.
