Although a large part of this work has been already known to Japanese readers since it was published in Japan in 2004, this book is not a mere translation of the previous one. While the neat structure and clear messages of the original version are basically maintained, the data set was partly updated, some hypotheses were slightly modified, and accordingly some econometric models were reconstructed and reestimated. Thanks to such revision, it became clearer to the reader that the authors shed light on the inside of industrial clusters with emphases on:
