: The used roof tiles are discharged by the dismantling construction of Japanese house; there are quantities of 1,000,000-2,000,000 tons per one year. Most of the used roof tiles have been landfill hitherto. It is necessary to be crushed and downsized to recycle the used roof tile which occurred across the land. The crushed roof tiles are including a large quantity of powders. This is called the recycled roof tiles fine aggregate. The ultimate aim of this study is the effective use of the recycled roof tiles fine aggregate. And it is the zero-emission of the used roof tiles. Characteristics of the crushed roof tiles are lightweight and porous structure. Focusing on lightweight and porous structure, the basic properties reveal based on experiments on the purpose of application to air mortar. Since it contains a large amount of the powder and is porous, the recycled roof tiles fine aggregate have a high water absorption performance. However, it is difficult to control the moisture status of the materials. Furthermore, the recycled roof tiles fine aggregate adsorbed the mixing water, as a result, reduced the workability used in concrete. By entraining air against high water absorption performance, the air mortar using the recycled roof tiles fine aggregate becomes an improvement of workability. From experiments, the air mortar using the recycled roof tiles fine aggregate has satisfactory strength like the normal air mortar. And it has the water permeability, which satisfies the coefficient of water permeability of the porous pavement.
