Objective: To assess factors associated with failure in ventilatory weaning of children undergone surgical correction of congenital heart diseases.Methods: Cohort study with 29 children. The heart diseases were divided into cyanotic (nine children) and acyanotic (20 children). We studied children from 0 to 5 years who underwent heart surgery with invasive mechanical ventilation.Results: The failure group presented smaller value in SpO(2) and higher values during days of stay in IMV and FiO(2) when compared to the success group (P
