" Digital Transformation" was coined by Erik Stolterman of (then) Umea University, where he suggested that it is" the changes that digital technology causes or influences in all aspects of human life."(Stolterman, 2004). Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan used the term" DX" to describe a" shift from the existing system to a new system" to promote change in 2018, and the term" DX" itself has been widely recognized in Japan since then. However, DX has been confused with Digitization or Digitalization and, at times, assumed to be achieved simply by introducing ICT to an existing system. Simultaneously, Japan has been squandering resources at the digitization stage, which has resulted in stagnation in the movement toward digitalization and subsequent DX. We would like to refer to the factors of stagnation in flow of the ideal" Digitization-Digitalization-Digital Transformation" as" Digital spoiler."
