of identity in research a consideration of epistemologies of difference would have been analytically useful given the established stable of critical insights available. I like this collection for a number of reasons. Although there are a number of omissions and issues worthy of further exploration, future debates could not take place without the insights and discussions found here. As a Gujarati academic, teaching and writing sociology, reflexively enacting my multiple and interweaved identities professionally and personally, I welcome the foundation that is built by this work. This is not because of its novelty value as a niche, diasporic observation, but because it is a multi-layered, sociological enterprise, allocating a substantial role to local and global considerations of agency, within, albeit in this collection a limited discussion of socio-economic and material constraints the many and varied negotiations in Gujarati diasporic lives.
