26 volunteers were given experimentally induced infectious hepatitis. Total and differential leucocyte counts were made throughout the course of the disease. Before the onset of fever (24-30 days) there were only minor fluctuations in the mean counts. In the first 24-28 hrs. of fever, there was an absolute leucopenia of all types of cells except monocytes. This was often followed by a relative lymphocytosis with numerous atypical lymphocytes. With the appearance of juandice, the leucocyte count slowly returned to normal.
