By performing nonequilibrium molecular-dynamics simulations, we found that carbon nanotubes act as phonon waveguides, retaining their excellent thermal conductance even when they are severely bent. We also show that thermal conductance is reduced dramatically when the outer shells of a multi-walled nanotube are partially broken, even if the inner shells maintain their tube structure. These results strongly support recent experimental results.
