Based on the data obtained from the surveys from 1981 through 1983, this paper discusses the features of the tide, and tidal currents in the Xi-angshan Harbour as well as their cause of formation. The analysis shows that there exists a resonance of quarter-diurnal constituents there and that one of the important reasons why the depth of water in some natural ports along the coast of Zhejiang and Fujian provinces remains steady is that the duration of the flood is longer than that of the ebb while the speed of the flood is less than that of the ebb.The cause of formation for these features is that there exists co-oscillation of shallow water constituents and shoaling effects in the Xiangshan Harbour.
