college and university women shall be more intelligent concerning the needs of young children in the home as well as in the school and have a better understanding of the methods used for their education is the objective of one phase of the educational program of the American Association of University Women'which was adopted in 1923. Since that time the Association, through its educational office, has undertaken a wide variety of activities in order to improve its members for the more scientific guidance of child development.One of the significant phases of this program in adult education is the study group work of the Association centered in its many branches throughout the United States. During the past year there were 432 groups meeting about once a week regularly for discussion and an intensive study of child development. The work of these groups is directed by study syllabi, bulletins, pamphlet literature, and loan books distributed from Headquarters in Washington, D. C., all of this material having been developed by the educational office to meet the specific needs of its study groups.
