Extracts of a culture of the acarine miteDermatophagoides culinœ,which grows readily on dog meal, gave positive prick-test reactions in asthmatic subjects, which correlated well with a history of house-dust allergy and with asthmatic reactions to inhalation tests. The skin-test reactions were comparable to those of an extract ofD. pteronyssinus,the " house-dust mite," which grows more slowly on human dander, and is thus not so readily available as a test material.
