The mass spectra of the-amino adds have been obtained using a mass spectrometer equipped with a heated crucible ion source. Correlations ofthese data to molecular structure have been madeand unimolecular decom-position mechanisms are proposed. Comparisons of these data have been made with the mass spectra of the ethyl esters of the amino acids and with other carboxylic acids and their esters.
