The purpose of the research was to provide a large set of standardized, emotionally-evocative, cross-culturally applicable stimuli with known effects on the three response systems in which emotions are manifested: (1) verbal reports, (2) motor expressions, and (3) changes in effectors innervated by the autonomic nervous system.
