Damage to the reproductive structures of ‘Contender’ green bean, Phaseolus vulgaris L., by nymphs and adults of Lygus lineolaris (Palisot de Beauvois) was investigated using caged racemes of flower buds, blossoms, and setting pods. Neither one nor two 3rd instars caused damage when caged with flower buds, blossoms, or setting pods. One or 2 adults or 5th instars damaged all developmental stages of the fruiting structures. There was no significant difference between the damage caused by 5th instars and adults.
