The patient is a 63-year-old man with a history of wellcontrolled hypertension who is diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and treated with a doxorubicincontaining chemotherapy regimen. During therapy, he is continued on hydrochlorothiazide for his hypertension. Three months later, he complains of dyspnea on exertion and mild lower extremity edema. A transthoracic echocardiogram reveals a moderately reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), which is new compared with a study performed before he underwent chemotherapy.
