The known Wyoming flora of Hepaticae consists of 75 species, a subspecies and 6 varieties in 34 genera and 20 families. Twenty-five taxa (23 species and 2 varieties) are reported as new to Wyoming. Due to variable topography the state of Wyoming is phytogeographically very interesting. There are many high mountains and high plateaus as well as badlands. There were a few studies of Hepaticae (R611, 1893; Nelson, 1902; Clark & Frye, 1928, 1931, 1934; Porter, 1933, 1935; Brinkman, 1934, 1937; Frye & Clark, 1937-1947; Schuster, 1953, 1966-1974), but there have not been similar studies on the Hepaticae in recent
