In this issue ofMolecular Cell,Choksi et al. (2011) report the identification of an NF-κB-independent ATIA (anti-TNFα-inducedapoptosis)-Thioredoxin 2 axis that inhibits TNFα- and hypoxia-induced apoptosis through elimination of excessive reactive oxygen species directly.
