T his paperback book was written primarily as a textbook and training manual for quality control engineers with advanced mathematical backgrounds. The subject matter has been used for many years as the basic course of study for two-week courses in statistical quality control given by mid-western universities. Any person using this manual should have a current working knowledge and understanding of advanced mathematics.The book is very well organized; however, it is more valuable as a textbook than as a reference for production problems. Much of the material needs interpretation by a mathematician. Companies with a sophisticated quality control program could use it as a reference. The content of the book consists of a well-written introduction and summary with five chapters on the subject matter, namely:" Elements of Probability and Statistics,"" Control Charts for Measurements,"" Control Charts for Attributes,"" Acceptance Sampling by Attributes," and" Acceptance Sampling by Variables."
