Measurements have been made which show that an open microwave resonator can be used for obtaining the permittivity values of uniaxial anisotropic materials. Measurements made on single-crystal quartz yield values of 4.430+or-0.004 and 4.633+or-0.004 for the two permittivities. These are in good agreement with values obtained by other workers.
