Introduction A facile synthesis of tetradecahydroundecaborate (l-) ion, BnH14", from BF3O (C2H5) 2 and NaBH4 was previously described. 2 The major neutral product obtained from the sodium dichromate oxidation of an aqueous solution of BUH14 “ion so prepared was decaborane (14), B10H14. 3 Thus B10H14 was made generally availablefor the first time by a relatively low-cost procedure which can be performed in standard laboratory apparatus.
