The isoindoles 1 and 2 can be regarded as radialenes of naphthalene—stabilized by bridging with alkylimino groups. Their differences in structure are manifested in their reactivity: W‐methylmaleiimide reacts with a pyrrole ring of 1, but not at all with 2. On the other hand, tetramethyldehydrobenzene reacts with 1 and 2 to give 2: 1 cycloadducts (R tBu).
