Unstained and unfixed thick or thin blood films may be satisfactorily stained even after a lapse of as much as 3 years provided they have been stored in a desiccator and kept under constant refrigeration. The stain of choice is a Giemsa saline (1-10). Aqueous Giemsa, Leishman's or Wright's stains do not give as consistently satisfactory results. Films exposed to the open air rapidly lose their ability to take any sort of a usable stain, probably due to the loss of their ability to haemolyze. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: A. C. Walton
