A 3-L, three-necked, round-bottom flask was charged with of o-anisic acid (60.8 g, 400 mmol) and THF (400 mL). An acetone-dry ice condenser and mechanical stirrer were put in place. The flask was immersed in an acetone-dry ice bath. To it were ammonia (1.6 L) was distilled in. The resulting thick white suspension was stirred, and added small pieces of sodium potion wise until the mixture showed characteristic blue color. 1, 2-dibromoethane (1.67 mL, 4.0 mmol) was added one portion. After 15 mins, 2, 3-dibromopropene (51.7 mL, 500 mmol) was added. The acetone-
