The possibility of using Mg levels in heart muscle of dead cattle and sheep as a diagnosis aid in cases of suspected hypomagnesaemia is discussed. The analytical technique is described. A. C. Field (Vet. Rec.84, 591) gives in table form the confidence limits for the single values reported by Kershaw & Wilson; this table reveals a considerable overlap in the myocardium Mg values of hypomagnesaemic and control animals.
